Our Approach to Teaching

How We Teach at RezOne British Academy

A British education delivered with intention — live, personal, and built around every learner.

Online learning has a reputation problem. Too many platforms confuse content delivery with teaching — uploading videos and calling it education. At RezOne British Academy, we do something fundamentally different. Every learner, at every stage, is taught. By a qualified person. In real time. With a genuine relationship at the centre.

Students are enrolled on structured programmes and follow a defined timetable of live lessons, independent study, and assignment-based learning. Teaching is delivered through Microsoft Teams, supported by continuous assessment, feedback, and progress tracking within Microsoft 365.

Our Six Teaching Principles

1
Live first
Every programme is built around live, interactive teaching sessions — not pre-recorded content left for learners to work through alone. Real-time instruction, real questions, real dialogue.
4
Rigour without rigidity
Our curriculum is demanding — British, qualification-focused, and uncompromising in its expectations. But rigour does not mean uniformity. Our educators adapt their teaching to the learner in front of them, not the average learner they imagined.
5
Application over memorisation
We measure success not by how much a learner can recall under pressure, but by how well they can use what they know. Project-based learning, real-world application, and problem-solving are not extras — they are the method.
6
AI-informed, human-led
Artificial intelligence supports our teaching — personalising feedback, identifying where a learner needs more time, and helping educators prepare more effectively. Every significant decision, however, is made by a qualified human teacher.

Live Lessons via Microsoft Teams

Every lesson at RezOne British Academy takes place live, via Microsoft Teams for Education — one of the world’s most trusted, secure, and accessible education platforms.

  • Learners join their session at a scheduled time in a small group of peers at the same stage
  • Breakout rooms allow small-group discussion and paired work within lessons
  • Shared whiteboards, polls, and collaborative documents make learning active rather than passive
  • Sessions are interactive by design — learners are expected to contribute, question, and engage
Why Microsoft Teams?
  • Trusted by schools and universities across the UK and worldwide
  • Fully compliant with UK safeguarding and data protection requirements
  • Accessible on any device — desktop, tablet, or mobile
  • Familiar to learners transitioning from or into UK school environments
  • Part of our Microsoft Showcase School pathway
  • Full login support and technical orientation before the first session

Small Group Teaching

Small groups are not a marketing promise at RezOne British Academy — they are a structural commitment. We do not increase group sizes to increase revenue. Every cap exists because it is the maximum at which the quality of teaching we are committed to delivering can actually be sustained.

When a learner is absent, their teacher notices immediately. When a learner is struggling, their tutor responds before it becomes a pattern. When a learner is ready to move faster, their educator can say so and act on it.

Project-Based Learning

Knowledge only becomes education when it can be used. At RezOne British Academy, every programme includes structured project-based learning — extended tasks that ask learners to apply what they know to problems that matter.

Early Years & Primary
Children design a solution to a local environmental problem, present it to their class, and explain their thinking — using maths, literacy, science, and creativity together, as they would in life.
A-Level & Vocational
Learners design, develop, and evaluate a real digital product or business case — drawing on subject knowledge, research skills, and practical application mirroring higher education or employment.
CPD & Professional
Educators design and present a curriculum unit that integrates AI literacy into their own subject — leaving with something immediately usable in their classroom or institution.

AI-Informed Feedback & Personalisation

Our educators use AI tools to teach more effectively — not to replace the work of teaching.

  • Personalised feedback at scale. After each assessed piece of work, learners receive detailed written feedback — informed by AI analysis, but reviewed and personalised by their teacher before it reaches them.
  • Progress pattern recognition. When a pattern emerges — a learner consistently strong in one area and weaker in another, or a sudden dip in engagement — their tutor is alerted and responds directly.
  • Adaptive pacing. AI-informed analysis allows educators to stretch those who are ready and consolidate with those who need more time — without the group holding anyone back.

Recorded Sessions for Review

Every live session is recorded and made available to enrolled learners within 24 hours, stored securely in their Microsoft Teams environment — accessible only to the learner, their parent or guardian, and their teaching team.

  • For younger learners, recordings allow parents to revisit a lesson together — reinforcing understanding and giving families a window into the classroom traditional schools cannot offer
  • For older learners, a missed session is never a lost session — and complex material can be revisited at their own pace
  • Knowing a session is available to return to reduces pressure to capture everything in the moment — freeing attention for the lesson itself

Tutor & Mentor Relationships

Every learner at RezOne British Academy is assigned a named personal tutor — a qualified educator responsible for that learner’s overall progress, wellbeing, and development, across and beyond their subject teaching.

  • Monitors progress across all subjects and flags concerns early
  • Conducts a fortnightly one-to-one progress call (15–20 minutes, via Teams)
  • Writes the termly progress report and end-of-year summary
  • First point of contact for any academic or pastoral concern
  • Supports UCAS applications, apprenticeship gateway preparation, and CPD portfolio development where applicable

For CPD and professional learners, the tutor relationship takes the form of a dedicated programme mentor — an experienced practitioner in your field who combines academic oversight with practical professional guidance.

Assessments & Progress Tracking

Assessment at RezOne British Academy is continuous, purposeful, and transparent. We assess to inform teaching, not simply to produce grades.

Formative assessment
Happens in every lesson — through questioning, discussion, and in-session tasks. Teachers use what they observe to adapt the lesson in real time.
Portfolio assessment
Used in project-based programmes — building a body of evidence of what a learner can do, rather than a single snapshot of what they can recall on one day.
Progress reports
Full written reports three times per year, addressing attainment, effort, attitude to learning, and specific next steps — written by the teacher, reviewed by the tutor.

Parent Communication

For our school-age programmes, we believe that the relationship between school and family is part of the education, not an administrative afterthought.

  • Weekly digest email — a brief summary of what was covered, what is coming next, and any actions for the learner at home
  • Termly progress report — a full written report from the teaching team, shared via email and accessible in the parent portal
  • Fortnightly tutor call — 15 minutes with your child’s personal tutor, to discuss progress, raise concerns, and celebrate achievements
  • Open door policy — every parent can email their child’s tutor directly. We commit to responding within one working day.
  • Parent portal (Microsoft Teams) — access to lesson recordings, submitted work, assessment feedback, and timetable, at any time

For adult learners on vocational, apprenticeship, or CPD programmes, employer communication replaces the parent channel — with regular progress updates to line managers or HR leads where agreed.

Ready to See It for Yourself?

The best way to understand how we teach is to experience a lesson. Every prospective learner and family is invited to attend a free taster session — a real lesson, with real learners, taught by one of our educators. No performance, no sales pitch. Just teaching.
