AI-informed teaching

Technology that enhances — never replaces — great teaching.

What We Mean by AI-Informed

Artificial intelligence is reshaping every profession, every industry, and every aspect of daily life. Education is no exception — and yet most schools are still deciding how to respond.

At RezOne British Academy, we made our decision from the very beginning.

We do not treat AI as a threat to be managed, a shortcut to be blocked, or a trend to be observed from a distance. We treat it as what it is: one of the most significant tools in human history — and one that every learner in our care deserves to understand deeply, use responsibly, and think about critically.

That is what AI-informed teaching means at RezOne British Academy. Not AI instead of teachers. Not AI marking papers while educators disengage. AI as a lens through which we teach better, and through which our learners understand more.

The Human Decisions Framework™

At the heart of our approach is the Human Decisions Framework™ — a structured pedagogical model developed by RezOne British Academy and published in our Digital & AI Literacy series.

The Framework is built on a single, powerful conviction: that in a world increasingly shaped by algorithms, the most important skill a human being can develop is the ability to make genuinely human decisions.

The Framework teaches learners at every stage to ask four questions:

What is this AI doing? Understanding how a system works — what data it draws on, what it optimises for, and what its limitations are.

Why was it built this way? Examining the choices, assumptions, and interests embedded in any AI system.

What does it get right — and what does it miss? Developing the critical perspective to evaluate AI outputs rather than simply accept them.

What is my responsibility here? Understanding that AI does not remove human agency — it makes it more important.

These four questions are not reserved for older students or specialist Computing lessons. They are woven into learning at every stage — from Early Years, where children begin to understand that technology is made by people and makes choices, through to postgraduate CPD, where professionals examine the ethical and strategic implications of AI in their own fields.

AI Literacy Across Every Pathway

One of the things that makes RezOne British Academy genuinely distinctive is that AI literacy is not a bolt-on subject or an optional extra. It is embedded — with age-appropriate rigour — across every programme we offer.

Early Years (Ages 3–5) Children are introduced gently to the idea that digital tools are made by people, that they can help us and get things wrong, and that we always stay in charge. Learning is playful, conversational, and grounded in everyday experience.

Primary (Ages 5–11) Computing lessons include structured exploration of how algorithms work, how data is collected, and how digital systems make decisions. The Human Decisions Framework™ is introduced in age-appropriate language from Year 1.

Lower Secondary (Ages 11–14) AI & Digital Literacy becomes a dedicated core subject. Students examine real AI systems, explore bias and ethics, and begin to design their own simple AI-informed projects. Critical thinking about technology is embedded across Humanities, Science, and PSHE.

GCSE (Ages 14–16) Our GCSE Computer Science programme includes an AI Literacy extension — going beyond the specification to develop genuine critical depth. Students analyse case studies, evaluate AI decision-making, and consider the societal implications of automation.

A-Levels & Post-16 AI themes run through Computer Science, Business Studies, Psychology, and Geography A-Levels — always examined through the lens of human agency and ethical responsibility.

Vocational & Technical Every BTEC and T-Level programme includes an embedded AI Applications module, mapped to current industry practice and employer expectations.

Apprenticeships AI competency is embedded in all apprenticeship programmes — from digital support roles to Level 7 Data Analytics (ST0482). Apprentices develop both technical AI skills and the critical frameworks to use them responsibly in the workplace.

CPD & Professional Development Our flagship AI & Digital Literacy for Educators CPD programme equips teachers, school leaders, and education professionals to understand, teach, and lead AI literacy in their own institutions.

AI as a Teaching Tool

Beyond curriculum content, AI also informs how we teach at RezOne British Academy.

Our educators use AI tools to personalise feedback, identify where individual learners need additional support, and adapt the pace and depth of teaching to each student’s progress. We use AI-assisted assessment tools to give learners faster, more detailed feedback on their work — while ensuring that every significant assessment decision is made and reviewed by a qualified human teacher.

We are transparent with our learners about when and how AI tools are used in their education. Understanding the difference between AI-generated feedback and teacher judgement is itself part of the learning.

Our Published Framework

The Digital & AI Literacy series, published by RezOne Press, provides the academic and pedagogical foundation for everything we do in this area. The series includes:

  • Digital & AI Literacy — Teacher Edition: a comprehensive guide to teaching AI literacy across all key stages, with lesson frameworks, discussion prompts, and assessment guidance
  • Digital & AI Literacy — Student Edition (Ages 11–14): a pupil-facing text that introduces the Human Decisions Framework™ in accessible, engaging language

Both publications are available through RezOne Press and have been developed through more than 20 years of computing education practice.

Why This Matters

The learners in our classrooms today will spend their professional lives working alongside AI systems we cannot yet imagine. The decisions they make — about how to use those systems, when to trust them, and when to push back — will shape outcomes that matter.

Our job is not to prepare them for the AI that exists today. It is to give them the thinking tools, the critical habits, and the ethical grounding to navigate whatever comes next.

That is what AI-informed teaching means at RezOne British Academy. And it is why we built it into the foundation of everything we do.
