Apprenticeships

Work. Learn. Earn.

Apprenticeships combine real employment with structured training, giving learners the opportunity to develop knowledge, skills and professional behaviours while working in a genuine occupational role.

At RezOne British Academy, our apprenticeship provision is designed around a simple principle: training should make people more capable in the workplace. Learning therefore connects directly to professional practice, workplace challenges and the requirements of the relevant apprenticeship standard.

Apprentices earn while they learn, employers develop capability within their workforce, and both are supported through a structured programme of training, progress review and preparation for successful completion.

How an Apprenticeship Works

Apprentices are employees. Most of their development takes place through the interaction between structured training and the experience gained in their day-to-day occupational role.

Structured Training
Protected learning develops the knowledge, skills and behaviours required by the standard
Workplace Application
Learning is applied and developed through real professional activity
Progress Reviews
Apprentice, employer and training team review progress throughout the programme
Evidence & Development
Progress is demonstrated through appropriate occupational evidence and assessment
Completion
The apprentice demonstrates that they have met the requirements of their apprenticeship

Training & Support

Training is designed around the apprenticeship standard and the apprentice’s existing knowledge and experience. Delivery may combine live online teaching, guided learning, coaching, workplace projects and independent study.

  • Initial assessment and individual training planning
  • Live structured teaching and specialist instruction
  • Individual coaching and academic support
  • Workplace projects and applied learning
  • Regular apprentice and employer progress reviews
  • Assessment and evidence preparation
  • Functional Skills support where required
  • Preparation for apprenticeship completion and assessment requirements

AI, Digital Literacy & Professional Judgement

Modern workplaces increasingly expect employees to work alongside digital systems, data and artificial intelligence. RezOne therefore develops responsible digital capability alongside occupational competence.

  • Responsible use of AI within workplace contexts
  • Evaluating accuracy, evidence, provenance and data quality
  • Recognising bias, uncertainty and automated error
  • Understanding privacy, confidentiality and information security
  • Knowing when automated output requires human verification
  • Maintaining professional accountability when technology is used
  • Applying the RezOne Human Decisions Framework™ where appropriate

Technology can support professional judgement. It does not replace responsibility for the decisions made.

Progress Reviews

Apprenticeship development is a partnership between the apprentice, employer and training provider. Regular progress reviews keep that partnership active throughout the programme.

  • Review progress against the apprenticeship standard
  • Consider workplace performance and development
  • Identify strengths and areas requiring further development
  • Agree clear objectives for the next stage
  • Review training and workplace opportunities
  • Identify additional support where required
  • Maintain communication between apprentice, employer and RezOne

Assessment & Completion

Apprentices must demonstrate that they have developed the knowledge, skills and behaviours required by their apprenticeship standard. Assessment and completion arrangements depend on the specific standard and applicable apprenticeship requirements.

  • Ongoing formative assessment and feedback
  • Workplace evidence where required
  • Projects, professional discussions or practical activities where applicable
  • Readiness review before final assessment
  • Preparation for the assessment requirements of the apprenticeship standard
  • Clear human oversight of progression and readiness decisions

Programme Duration

Apprenticeship duration varies according to the standard, level, prior learning, occupational requirements and individual circumstances.

Pathway Indicative Duration
Level 2 · Intermediate Approximately 12–18 months
Level 3 · Advanced Approximately 18–24 months
Higher Apprenticeships Approximately 24–36+ months depending on the standard

Actual programme duration is determined by the apprenticeship standard, prior learning, employer requirements and individual training plan.

  • Existing employees developing new occupational capability
  • Career changers moving into a new professional field
  • People progressing into technical or leadership roles

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. An apprenticeship is a job combined with structured training, so the learner must have appropriate employment for the apprenticeship being undertaken.

Can an existing employee become an apprentice?
Potentially, yes. Apprenticeships can be used to develop eligible existing employees where the programme provides appropriate new occupational learning and the applicable requirements are met.

Duration depends on the apprenticeship standard, level, prior learning and individual training plan. Many programmes take between one and three years, with some higher-level apprenticeships taking longer.
